Module URL EnDecoder

My most recent module is intended for techies who want to quickly decode or encode some url-encoded text.  It displays an input area and the 2 encode / decode buttons.  As it is Javascript-driven, the process is carried out on the client machine rather than through the server.

Module Quicklist Weblinks 2.0

I am currently looking at various techniques to get screenshots of websites and to display these alongside your latest Joomla! weblinks.

I don't usually write an article on another site but I came across it and rather than just add it to my weblinks section, I thought I'd give it a little more credit.

"Motive is a web design and development agency based in Wellington, New Zealand providing consultation, website design, development and usability evaluation services."

Their website has initiated a Web Definition Glossary (there are others but this one's got that "kiwi" approach)

A few terms I wanted to list up:

"above the fold" or "before-the-scroll" The part of a webpage that is visible in the web browser window when the page first loads is described as being ‘above-the-fold’.
"belt-and-suspenders" Just like the UK's idiom "belt-and-braces", ‘Belt-and-suspenders’ describes an approach to web design where provision has been made for more than one method of achieving a satisfactory outcome.
typosquatter A typosquatter is a company/individual that registers the misspelling of a popular website address, either to increase advertising revenue or as a form of parody/social criticism.
initialism
An initialism is a phrase or multi-word name that has been abbreviated to the first letter of each word, and is pronounced as a series of individual letters.  For example HTML (the computer language used to author webpages), is an initialism of HyperText Markup Language, and is pronounced: “H-T-M-L”.  (Um... think I just call these acronyms myself).
permission-based marketing An opt-in policy requires a potential customer to self-select the services they wish to subscribe to, and how any information they provide may be used. Also referred to as permission-based marketing.
Section 508 Section 508 is an amendment to the United States Workforce Rehabilitation Act of 1973. Signed into law in 1998, this legislation requires that electronic and information technology developed or purchased by the US Federal Government is accessible by people with disabilities.

I'm going to stop there but do check them out at http://www.motive.co.nz/index.php
