  This is a crude launcher simply because I like normal sized icons on a quick launch taskbar and a bit sick of having to rebuild the quick launch bar everytime I reghost my computer (restore to factory settings).  This program opens a little square box with the shortcuts arranged in a grid.  All the parameters are read off a configuration file (config.ini) which can easily be accessed by running the launcher and right-clicking on the system tray icon and selecting "Edit Configuration...".  As always it comes with the source files and is released for FREE under the GNU/GPL license v3.

  Really crude but essential for myself. I can use it to record how long a webpage takes to load and compare these to other webpages.
  
  The technology and method was chosen because this program causes NO network traffic of its own.
  
  It is a small GUI with a transparent background (white foreground text) and runs behind all other windows (much like a gadget/widget). I run it permanently on all my computers.

  Script Function
  If you are on a network that frequently loses connection or simply forgets what intranet site you were trying to access and your usual solution is a reboot, then this tool may be for you.
  
  In my environment, I am working with a Visual Studio 2008 IDE (Business Intelligence Development Studio - BIDS) along with Microsoft's Team Foundation Server (TFS). Sometimes I'll check out an item from TFS and before I get to update it, my connection will drop and my computer will say that it could not connect to either the TFS or my target deploy location.
  
  I found a quicker fix than rebooting your computer which is to open a command prompt and to type "ipconfig /flushdns" then "ipconfig /registerdns" and the connections would have been restored. As I love automation and reducing processes to single-click fixes, I made this teeny tiny program to run the above commands and check the error levels.
