SharePoint 2007: Change profile picture with minimal permissions

This is a quick article on how to change your profile picture in your company's sharepoint site. Sounds straightforward but without being allowed to upload images or edit other profiles, each user has to do this with the permissions they've been given.

Because I can

  1. Setup an account with and they’ll give you a link to that picture (eg.,
  2. Go to your SharePoint site
  3. Click on the “People and Groups” link at the bottom of the left menu
  4. Click on the “All People” link at the top of the left menu
  5. Find yourself in the list by using the iccle arrow next to the 0-100 (top right)
  6. Click on your own name or picture to see your profile page
  7. Click the “Edit Details” beneath your contact information (only visible if this is your own profile)
  8. Set the picture field to the http://... link to the image
  9. “Save and Close”
